A new trend in e-learning is giving short format types of trainings. Concepts such as learning nuggets and bite-sized learning have been lately doing the rounds.

Decreased attention span due to a faster speed of perception

Fifty years ago the film industry estimated that it would take an individual approximately 20 seconds to fully grasp a picture or a scene. Today, that number shrinked down to about 2 to 3 seconds, which is just a tenth of the 20 seconds!

Because of the dominance of images constantly displayed in the media, our attention span has decreased, and in turn, our speed of perception has increased.

By associating a very compelling story into the course will duly help learners to better remember the learning content and retain this in their long-term memory. When learning with associations, links between newly processed information and previously gained knowledge and experiences are created.

A single image or even just a few words are sufficient enough to trigger a person’s stimulus response.
